ARDEN + WHITE is pleased to present a solo presentation of Gwen Hardie’s most monumental work to date at The Armory Show, NY, Booth 215.
Composed of twenty-four 24 × 24-inch oil paintings, the work forms a continuous chromatic sequence extending 48 feet. Developed over six months in Hardie's studio, the installation moves gradually from green through yellow to orange, tracing the evolution of color through changing light and the passage of time.
Hardie is recognized for her rigorous investigation of color and perception. Through the meticulous layering of oil paint, she creates luminous surfaces defined by transitions that are both subtle and precise. Light is treated not simply as illumination, but as an active and immaterial presence—one that continually reshapes our experience of color, surface, and space.
