Erin Lynn Welsh (b. 1984) is a Brooklyn-based painter whose work draws from personal photographs taken across the United States, translating the American landscape and florals into charged, psychologically layered compositions. Her practice encompasses two primary bodies of work: one marked by ethereal depictions of landscape that engage with notions of the sublime, and another more gestural and assertive, where expressive mark-making collides with the unpredictability of the natural world.
Welsh’s sustained engagement with the natural—whether in terrain, flora, or the human form—often culminates in synthetic meditations. In these works, botanical gestures are rendered in saturated skin tones and pigment-heavy strokes, evoking both beauty and violence, and casting light on the historical and emotional complexity of the American landscape.
Her work is held in numerous permanent collections, including the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, Warner Brothers, Felicity House, DwellStudio, and Design Within Reach. Welsh has exhibited nationally at Untitled Art Fair, Pulse Art Fair, Texas Contemporary, and Market Art + Design, among others.
She received her BFA in Photography from Pratt Institute, a foundation that continues to inform her layered approach to image-making, materiality, and visual storytelling.
