Arden + White Gallery is pleased to present Diffused Expressionss, a two-person exhibition featuring works by Ali Enache and Graziela Guardino. Bringing together painting and sculpture, the exhibition explores how perception emerges through layered material processes.
Enache presents a new body of abstract paintings that explore landscape as a perceptual and temporal experience rather than a fixed site. Organized around expansive horizontal structures and restrained chromatic transitions, these works unfold at the threshold of recognition, where atmosphere and memory converge.
Rather than depicting a singular scene, Enache distills shifting states of perception into painterly form. Diaphanous washes blend seamlessly, punctuated by decisive gestures that navigate between fragility and resolve. Light functions as an internal structure; pale tonalities glow, while dusky overlays temper luminosity into shadow, gently shifting the sense of space and altering the viewer’s perception of time.
Guardino’s sculptures offer a tactile counterpart to Enache’s atmospheric paintings. Composed of soft, cloud-like threads, yet anchored by the weight and permanence of brass, her works appear as screens through which light disperses, balancing an ephemeral softness with underlying strength. This diffusion of light resonates with Enache’s paintings, where atmosphere and color dissolve fixed space into perceptual experience.
Together, the artists explore how form emerges slowly, through atmosphere, accumulation, and structural tension.
