Tina Shaw

Tina Shaw (b. 1987) is a mixed-media artist whose practice centers on sculptural painting. She studied at Parsons School of Design and worked in fashion design before turning fully to painting, a transition that continues to inform her sensitivity to surface, form, and material.

Color sits at the core of Shaw’s work, its emotional resonance, its ability to hold memory, and its capacity to create atmosphere. Through her compositions, she seeks to evoke calm, spaciousness, and reflection. Her process is both physical and improvisational, often involving custom tools and inventive techniques, especially when working at large scale. Embracing materials such as acrylics, compounds, cotton rope, and resin, Shaw sets self-imposed challenges that push her beyond familiar solutions and continually expand the language of her practice.

Rooted in lived experience yet guided by experimentation, Shaw’s paintings distill the physical act of making into meditative, sculptural forms.
