Amy Wright is a multidisciplinary artist with a diverse background in painting, drawing, surface pattern design, and floristry. Wright has formal training in the Fine Arts from VCA and a BA in Textile Design from RMIT.
Wright’s work is focuses on capturing abandon landscapes; the discarded, ignored and untamed. Each canvas is its own Wunderkammer, holding a world that morphs reality with imagination; plants are depicted wildly and landscapes are tiered and towering with often obscured horizon lines.
Working in mixed media, predominately acrylic, charcoal and pastel - her painting methodology is reminiscent to that of collage, where the whole is made up of cropped fragments, where she playfully toys with the idea of hiding and revealing. Pattern, texture and color are core to her practice and are used to create a sensory narrative of the landscape.
