Matt Byrd (b. 1992) is a stone carver with a background in traditional stonemasonry. His work is the product of a yearning to create and an expression of his love for art and architecture – all while paying homage to and focusing on the concepts taught to him by stonemasonry.

Byrd parallels his work to that of puzzles: pieces that can be physically and visually complex, but come into clear view once assembled. That configuration is a process for which he strives, and once completed, it’s on to the next.
